Admission to the school for both reception children and in year admissions, are all made directly to Royal Greenwich local authority.  We welcome visits to the school and are happy to show parents/carers around during specified dates.

The admission criteria for Halstow School are determined by the Royal Greenwich Admissions criteria for community schools and are set out below:-

If there are more applications than places available, the Education Authority will give priority in the following order to:-

  1. Children in the care of a local authority
  2. Siblings (brothers and sisters who live at the same address as, pupils on the roll of the school at the time when the child is due to start school)
  3. Children with an acute medical or social need for a particular school
  4. Other applicants, ranked according to home/school distance (to ensure accuracy, the distance from home to school will be measured).

Starting School

Children join one of our two reception classes in September and parents/carers are notified whether or not they have a place at Halstow School early in May.

If the authority is unable to offer a place, you have the right to appeal.  More information is available from the school office and on the Royal Greenwich Council website.
